Temporary Employment
At present, 15 firms operate in Pitt County providing temporary employees for area industry and businesses. Employees are interviewed, tested, and evaluated by the temporary agency before being assigned and are used as replacements for personnel out for vacation, sick leave, or emergencies. In addition, many companies hire temporaries for preplanned special projects and peak seasons in production.
The agencies provide office personnel including data processors, secretarial/clerical workers, bookkeepers, and legal, marketing, and banking assistants; light and heavy industrial personnel including assemblers, laborers, janitors, welders, and general contractors; technical support personnel which may include programmers, chemists, engineers, or cad operators; and medical/healthcare professionals.
