Welex Announces Pitt County Location

Greenville, NC (January 29, 2007) - Welex, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high performance plastics extrusion equipment, will be relocating to Greenville , NC . Currently located in Blue Bell, PA, near Philadelphia , Welex purchased the former Prince Manufacturing building on Industrial Blvd. Initial investment projections are approximately $3 million and at least 20 employees.

Welex has designed and built high quality extrusion systems for over 30 years. The company supplies extruders, coextruders, gear pumps, sheet take-offs and accessories to more than 70 countries worldwide. Welex equipment is used by leading companies to produce products for the rigid packaging, disposable products, automotive and appliance industries, just to name a few. They are the only extruder manufacturer that builds their own gear pumps.

Welex is recognized for its outstanding sheet extrusion systems. In-line systems are made for a variety of thermoforming applications. Welex developed sheet coextrusion more than three decades ago and today builds complete systems for all applications using their own well-proven modular technology.

Welex General Manager, Wayne Lewis, says, “We expect to have our doors open and employees at work in February. We looked at many options, and we’re pleased to be in Pitt County.” Mr. Lewis worked closely with Richard Roberson of the NC Department of Commerce to determine which of many North Carolina locations would best fit his needs.

Pitt County Development Commission Executive Director, Wanda Yuhas, adds, “Our new job creation is a healthy mix of new companies coming in and existing industries expanding.
