Signature Seasonings Opens Processing Facility in Ayden

AYDEN, NC (October 23, 2014) - Signature Seasonings, a privately-owned food processing company, has opened a new facility in Ayden, NC.  Founded in 2007, the company has existing sales and administrative offices in Virginia Beach, VA.

Signature Seasonings is a distributor for McCormick Spices and provides custom spice and seasoning blending services for food manufacturers, food service operators, restaurants, and the specialty food trade.  They also produce their own seasonings, rubs, flavorings, and dressing and gravy mixes as well as provide co-packaging and private labeling services.

Signature Seasonings’ founders serve as senior management and have, collectively, over 50 years of experience in spice and flavor manufacturing.  The company currently has nine employees at the Ayden facility.  The new location provides more space, a more efficient configuration, and capacity to grow as they actively seek new business partners and attract new business based on their quality products and services.

“Signature Seasonings is a great complement to the emerging food processing cluster that we are developing in Pitt County,” says Brad Hufford, Associate Director for Retention and Expansion, Pitt County Development Commission.  “Their Ayden facility is top notch, and allows them to grow their business in the coming years."

The Ayden facility, an existing 7500 square foot building, was upfit for Signature Seasonings’ unique needs and designed for high quality food processing and distribution.  Committed to quality, consistency, and food safety, the company employs good manufacturing practices and an effective food safety management system to ensure that the highest standards in the industry are met.  They also have a superior food safety rating from the American Institute of Baking.

Signature Seasonings has contracts with local customers, such as a small french fry seasoning company in Raleigh, as well as other specialty food companies, manufacturers and restaurants from Asheville to the Outer Banks.  On the other end of the spectrum, they have internationally-known customers, such as McCormick & Company, Campbell Soup Company and other national and regional restaurant chains, for which they produce and distribute larger batches of spices, spice and seasoning blends, gravy and dressing mixes, and other dry flavors.

From bulk orders of McCormick spices to custom retail size seasonings, the company can process practically any size batch requested while maintaining the highest quality standards, which makes them unique in the industry.  “There are a lot of people that do what we do, but ultimately, we make higher quality products that begin with McCormick Spices,” says Chris Anderson, President, Signature Seasonings.

The company continues to make local connections with restaurants and other food manufacturers, distributors and processors to enhance the growing cluster of local and regional food and beverage production and service companies in eastern North Carolina.
