CMI Plastics, Inc. Announces Three New Champions to Victory for a Cause
Ayden, NC (May 24, 2011) – CMI Plastics, Inc. has named three new Champions to Victory for a Cause, an awareness campaign dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. These new Champions are welcomed into the Victory for a Cause community, which began in the fall of 2010 in an effort to raise awareness of childhood cancer. Victory for a Cause helps children in need through sports teams’ sponsorships and donations. For every team victory, $100 is donated to the sponsored child.
The first new Champion to be honored this week by Victory for a Cause is Zack, a 12- year-old boy that has been diagnosed with leukemia. His sponsor is the St. Peter’s Catholic School Soccer Team. To help Zack in his fight against childhood cancer, the team presented him with a few spirit-lifting items at their Spring Sports Ceremony. Zack received an official St. Peter’s jersey from the team, an autographed soccer ball with all of the team members’ names, a framed team photo, a Champions Medal and a check for $500.00. During the Spring Sports Ceremony, CMI Plastics was presented with a team photograph representing the team’s gratitude for the opportunity to be involved in this campaign and the team uniforms that the company donated earlier this year.
Anai is another new Victory for a Cause Champion named this season. Anai is a 9-year-old girl with acute lymphocytic leukemia, or ALL. During a ceremony on Wednesday, May 18th, the 97 PGSA Stars presented Anai with a recognition medal, a Champions medal, an official team shirt, a team autographed soccer ball, and a check for $500.00. In addition, the 97 PGSA Stars have won so many games that the additional money raised will be donated to Camp Rainbow, a local camp for children and families dealing with childhood cancer.
The third Champion honored this season is Matt, a 16-year-old boy who has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. His sponsor team is the CMI Plastics Spring 2011 Adult Soccer Team, and during a ceremony on Sunday, May 22nd, the team presented Matt with an official CMI Plastics team jersey, a Champions medal, and a check for $500.00.
Steven Hasselbach, President of CMI Plastics, said, “I would like to thank the St. Peter’s Catholic School as well as the Pitt Greenville Soccer Association (PGSA) for allowing CMI and Victory for a Cause to be part of their sports experience. Allowing these children to be involved with your teams has an incredible effect on their morale. This small act lets them know that people care about them, and the smile that it puts on their face is priceless.”
Victory for a Cause Champions are named every sports season. CMI Plastics has an initial goal of eight champions per year and the company’s work with Jacquelyn P. Sauls, Director of Rainbow Services/Child Life/Pediatric Hematology/Oncology of the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, helps CMI Plastics locate candidates in need of assistance.
